Frequently Asked Questions

How long have these spas been around? How long will they last?2021-12-14T12:56:33+08:00

Softub Inc. has been manufacturing Softub spas since 1986. Softub spas are made in America and to a very high standard. They are built for the outdoors and made to last. There’s no reason why your Softub shouldn’t last 20 years and beyond

How much does it cost to operate?2021-12-14T12:56:10+08:00

Softub is the most energy efficient spa available on the market. The average cost to operate a Softub spa outside, is between $25 and $35 AUD per month. That means you won’t see a huge jump in your electric bill, as with those other 220V/ 240 V hard tubs.

What are they made of? Are they inflatable?2021-12-14T12:55:43+08:00

No, they are not inflatable. They are made of space-age high-density foam that is extremely strong, yet lightweight. This makes them durable and portable. You’ll love the flexible comfort and whats more, you’ll be able to easily move your Softub, inside or outside.

How well does the vinyl surface hold up outside?2021-12-14T12:55:23+08:00

The vinyl is a marine-grade product that is designed to withstand the harshest climates (frost, snow, rain) and sun/ UV damage. That means with simple, routine care, you can expect to get many many years of service from your Softub spa, whether you keep it indoors or out.

How does it heat without a heater?2021-12-14T12:55:04+08:00

Softub spas are heated utilizing our revolutionary heat recovery system, which uses the heat created by the pump motor to heat the water. Thats right! Not only does the pump circulate the water but it heats it at the same time. This means you will have operating costs that are a fraction of the cost of a hard tub, a reduction in service problems, and an extension of the life of the motor, since our system helps keep it cool.

How hot does it get?2021-12-14T12:54:46+08:00

Our thermostat can be set as high as 40 degrees Celcius, the same as all other hot tubs that are UL or ETL certified.

How do you treat the water?2021-12-14T12:54:29+08:00

To make maintenance as simple as possible, we have built in a patented, fully automatic, ozone injection system that significantly reduces the amount of chemicals needed to keep your Softub spa clean and sanitary. That means it takes less time -and less money out of your pocket – to keep your Softub spa sparkling clean. We have several non chlorine treatments that can be used in the tubs.

How much do they weigh when full of water?2021-12-14T12:54:09+08:00

A 1130 litre Resort size (largest) Softub spa weighs just 70kgs, including the HydroMate and lid. You can place your Softub spa on nearly any deck. Check with your builder; most new decks can easily support a Softub spa and a few of your friends. The Sportster (1-2 pers) weighs just 51 kgs, and the Legend (3-4 pers) 63 kgs.

What kind of preparation is required to install a Softub spa?2021-12-14T12:53:48+08:00

The great news is that all you need to install a Softub spa is a level surface and a standard 220V/ 240V (50 Hz) 10 Amp household electric outlet. Unlike hard, acrylic tubs, which required a concrete pad or reinforced platform to support their heavy weight and dedicated 220v 25 Amp electrical outlet, a Softub spa is the go-anywhere hot tub, drawing just 6 Amps.

Will I need an electrician or plumber to hook it up?2021-12-14T12:53:27+08:00

No. Although almost all acrylic hot tubs do require expensive electrical work to install, a Softub spa is designed for anyone to install on their own, as it plugs into a standard 220V/ 240V (50 Hz) 10 Amp household electric outlet. And, with our SmartChip™, you never have to worry about power surges or brown-outs damaging your Softub spa, as this built-in RCD will protect it.
